About the Company
Based in Maidenhead in Berkshire, Nav Now is part of SMS Initiative Ltd, which also owns ProMotive Motorsport. Formed in 1999 by Hunter Abbott at the tender age of 18, SMS Initiative Ltd started life as Hunter Abbott Racing, looking after motorsport sponsorship for Hunter's career as a racing driver.
The company developed and in 2001 was renamed SMS Initiative Ltd to represent it's diversification into other areas of business including premium rate SMS text messaging.
Shortly after, SMS Initiative created the Nav Now brand, specialising in the mail order retail of in-car technology. Nav Now has now risen to become one of the UK's major players in the in-car GPS market place, differentiating itself from competition with it's level of service and highly knowledgeable staff.
As a result of the continuing development of the company, SMS Initiative was nominated for four business awards in the 2005 RBWM Business Excellence Awards. Namely Small Business of the Year, Customer Service Excellence and Hunter Abbott, the company's Managing Director, was nominated as Business Personality of the Year and Young Business Person of the Year. SMS Initiative made it to the final for three separate awards and Hunter was named the 2005 Young Business Person of the Year.
Nav Now is continuing to develop thanks to loyal customers and excellent staff.
